The Road To MVW: Audition

So I didn't make it into the first round of auditions, but I'm so happy for a couple of my very dear friends who were selected as Mister Virtual World finalists...gratz to Brendan Macarthur, Daniele Eberhardt, and Matteo Bettencourt!  For my first application, I kind of sold out and went very plain, very boy next door, very much NOT me.  For my second application, I figured "screw it," and did what I do best...avant garde with a fantasy flair.  Apparently it worked, because I made it in to the second round of castings, which was today.  I'm not sure what the results will be, but I had a blast styling the outfit below for my audition.  Wish me luck!

Seen On The Scene: "In Outer Space" by [sYs]

"In Outer Space" told an amazing narrative today, detailing the encounters and experiences of the space ship Independence and its crew as they discover (and subsequently become stranded on) the alien asteroid Apophis.  I must admit, Falbala Fairey stole the show for me today.  I took like 10 shots of her, in multiple stylings, and she was positively breathtaking in every single one of them.  See below for my favorite of the aforementioned Falbala shots, as well as some shots of the audience and other models.  Take care!

"PROTOTYPE" was the perfect fusion of [sYs] and Finesmith Designs, heavily infused with a futuristic military theme.  The set was absolutely stunning, complete with a VIP lounge for the designers and teleporters to beam the models from the runway to their backstage prep area.  Rex Requiem and I were soldiers, tasked with greeting and protecting the civilians from any dangers that might befall them.  =P  On a random side note, today was Blue Porchers' RL birthday!  YAY!!!

TEST 007: "Cyber Nature" by [sYs]

Each month sYs holds a contest to see who can come up with the most amazing styling pertaining to that month's particular theme.  Grand prize winners have their photo posted at the store's landing point, are featured on a vendor image, and receive L$3000 of store credit!  This month the theme is "Cyber Nature," so I went all futuristic water elemental.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  =D

My second fashion show for the day celebrated the launch of PNP's runway poses, featuring approximately 240 new male and female poses.  While the focal point of the show was definitely PNP's outstanding poses, the show was also a massive collaboration organized by Matteo Bettencourt of OGlam Agency to showcase the designs of numerous other brands, including Apple May Designs Le Charme, Mary Jane Shoes, !Silken Moon, Azoury Couture, Privileged, Champagne! Sparkling Fashion, Sascha's Designs, and Finesmith Designs.

Seen On The Scene: "sYs" by D'ior Super Modeling Agency & Corpus

"sYs" was such a cool show!  In the beginning, the stage was entirely black (except for a few spotlights).  However, as the models began entering the stage, it reacted by glowing in sYs' trademark hues of blue and aqua.  Boxes and platforms alike responded to the models' every movement, illuminating as the models presented Syane's and Systi's amazing designs, then fading to black as they returned backstage.

The Bleeding Edge: "Bird Of Prey" by Mea Culpa

Typically I try to get my bleeding edge reviews out within a day or two of release, if not prior to.  However, sometimes I get overwhelmed with RL, and just don't have time to cover all of the new releases that I'd like to.  =(  During Male Fashion Week back in March, Tatanka Kaligawa unveiled a new line of menswear from his wildly successful avante garde brand, Mea Culpa.  I was DYING to cover all of the new releases, but just didn't have the time to do them justice.  I have a bit more time on my hands for now, so below is "Bird Of Prey," the first of hopefully many Mea Culpa outfits that I will cover here on Shiny Angel Couture.  I applied heavy artistic and blur filters to my picture below to give it the look and feel of a watercolor painting, but don't let that fool you...the textures on this outfit are soooo incredibly detailed, and the primwork is absolutely flawless (as is to be expected from the work of Tatanka Kaligawa).  You simply MUST stop by Mea Culpa to try this outfit on for yourself!
